Alternate Timeline Origins takes the origin question sideways in time: the idea that our real beginning lies on a different timeline than the one we currently occupy — that history as recorded is not the only, or original, version. It leads straight into is this the only timeline and the Timeline Reality layer.
The idea
In this framing, humanity may have originated under conditions since overwritten — a timeline shift, a reset, a branch we slid off of. It draws intuitive fuel from the Mandela effect and the sense that the past feels subtly wrong, as if edited. On this reading, "where did we come from" gains a hidden clause: come from when, and from which version of events.
Science and speculation
Physics does host serious many-worlds and multiverse discussions, but those are about branching possibility, not about a rewritten human past we can half-remember. The map keeps that distinction sharp: the respectable physics does not underwrite the personal claim. It presents alternate-timeline origins as an imaginative frame — valuable for loosening the grip of a single fixed history, speculative as literal cosmology, and best read alongside the Endgame layer's simulation themes.
Whether or not our origin sits on another branch, the thread does one useful thing: it turns the settledness of "the past" into a question, and reminds us how much of history is reconstruction.
