What is actually documented
The real history is strange enough to fuel the lore. Operation Highjump, a large 1946–47 U.S. naval expedition, genuinely happened; the Antarctic Treaty restricts the continent to peaceful science; and a place that cold, remote, and lightly witnessed is a natural canvas for suspicion. Old Nazi-base mythology attached itself to this early and still circulates — the map notes it plainly without endorsing it.
How the map holds it
From documented remoteness the thread leaps to hidden cities, frozen craft, and elite bunkers. None of that is established, and some of it recycles fiction as memory. The map keeps the honest core — a genuinely secretive, hard-to-verify continent — and files the rest as belief, adjacent to the layer's breakaway and infrastructure claims.
