God did not rescue the Israelites from slavery. Yahweh put them there.

The slavery is announced to Abraham in Genesis 15, four hundred years before it happens, in the same chapter where the covenant is cut. Eleven chapters carry the story from that announcement to the brickyards, and the text treats both ends as planned.
